Civil war scenarios

Again, I want to express my discontent with what goes on in Copenhagen in these hours. It is simply not suitable for a country like Denmark. Shame on us all.

Copenhagen burning

It's sad to see our capital burning in the night. It's so..... unscandinavian.

...did I just make up that word? Jeeez.

I got caught in the middle!

So after all this upsetting news all day long on the tube, I was actually a little glad to get out of the apartment to go grocery shopping (for detail whores, I was buying cheese :-)) Down on the big town square in front of the Lutheran Cathedral, I actually got caught up in the mix of government versus alternative youth. I saw a demonstration of about 70 young people with banners and black clothes coming towards me, and I instinctively grabbed my cell phone to shoot a couple of pictures.
Before I knew it, 3 police combat vehicles came racing from the St. Clemens brigde, and in a flash I was standing between the demonstration, where people now started yelling and running, and the armed police on the other side!!!!! AAAARGH! Did I move my ass out of the way in a rapid motion? You bet your meshugganez I did - See photographic effort below.

Coverage continues

just a couple of captures from the net and tv2NEWS.

Ritt (mayor of Copenhagen) didn't want to get too involved in the whole ordeal...

Clearence has begun!

OMG! Woke up this morning and turned on the tv, to find all national tv channels broadcasting the news, that the clearing of the youth house in copenhagen has begun at 7 o'clock this morning! Apparently, police was able to conquer (in lack of a more appropriate word) the house in a matter of 10 minutes, as the inhabitants were fast asleep when the authorities arrived. Usually, I'm all for the kids and adults who use this kind of option, but when I saw footage of toilets and computer monitors on the roof, ready to be kicked off in the heads of those below, I gotta say it made me quiver with sadness. Wars are not won with toilets, but with words. I'm gonna watch tv all day today. Expect an update later in the evening when I have my brain more wrapped around this developing story.

80: Also my Grandma

My beloved other grammy turned 80 two days ago, and today the whole mafia was together in celebrating her. I love how the whole clan always comes around for these functions. A couple of shots of my aunties as well. Family bliss, 2007 version :-)

Full of it

The garbagemen and garbagewomen are on strike. Good for them, bad for us. Everywhere you go, there's piles of trash. It's starting to smell really bad, and the authorities are concerned about the potential health hazard rats could become. D'oh.

More than light, more than clouds

17:30, saturday, forest south of the city. Add 2 mates, and this is what you get. Gotta give props to the universe for a spectacle such as this.

A valentine and a grandma

So not a lot of people know this, but I actually despise Valentine's Day and the Hallmark Greeting Card mentality it represents. The only thing that makes this phony holiday worth while for me, is that by chance it also happens to be my grandmothers birthday.

So happy b-day Grams, looking forward to celebrating you tonight.

Kisses,

You get high on the stuff, and constantly crave more. Lucky old me, to have this 20-pound ray of brown-eyed sunshine in my life.

Family announcement

Added detail: Pelle and the kids. Family much? I think so. Expect one of these two people to look pregnant any time soon.

Do you want water with that?

So my buddy Pelle and I were out walking the day before yesterday, and I managed to get these amazing shots of a field outside town. Seriously, there's supposed to be fields, not water there. Amazing.

I don't think I'll ever totally understand it. As long as he knows I'm here to try.

Birthday, conservative style

So the lovely James celebrated his 28th yesterday night at the Black Bridge Inn. (I know, sounds like something from Lotr) Good food and entertaining company, met an old class mate of mine whom I hadn't seen for 10 years. Very strange.
