Blog News
Hello readers,
just to let you know that I've released a new blog in a more personal space. Oh, and it's not in English anymore, it's simply time for some new and exiting stuff. What does that mean for this corner of the web? Not a whole lot, really. I'll still be posting here from time to time, whenever I stumble upon something so delicious online, that I just can't leave it be. And this video is just that:
It's Sharleen Spiteri: All the times I cried - official videoclip. Enjoy!

Cat napping
Cats have it all figured out... Who ever heard of a cat that turned in a paper late, got a parking ticket og missed their kids birthday? I'm telling you, cat napping is the shizz :-)

From Russia with lust?

Russian creamball Dima Bilan won the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 by a landslide with the track "Believe"...
As with all great russian music the track was penned by Timbaland... And low and behold what kind of shots were leaked to the press 3 days before the vote...

2 Ladies of Eurovision
Presenting 2 women who both use their breasts to deliver their message. First it's Malta's Morena with the incredibly intoxicating (blah!) song "Vodka"...
and below is Ukraine's Ani Lorak with her J.Lo groove "Shady Lady".
The Ukrainian woman will blast through to the finals, the Maltese woman not so much. Why? Because one is Eastern European, and one is not. And that's that. And that's a bloody shame.

I've got a pair for you tonight...
The stage is set for the first semi-finals of the ESC 2008 in Belgrade. I have 2 songs I hope will make it to the finals.... From Slovenia, it's "Vrag Naj Vzame"
and Azerbaidjan's(!) "Day by Day"... a couple of upbeat happy songs.... who would have know that the gay scene was so kicking in Azerbaidjan? I sure as shit didn't!

Shar's sense of humour
Sharleen Spiteri's got a wicked sense of humour.... Listen to the short soundbite of a conversation about a smoke machine at the end of the clip - But first enjoy the very nice live performance of "so in love with you"... I think the humour has to do with her being Scottish :-)

2 videos, 2 remixes
September's catchy single "Cry for you" was originally released in a radio mix in 2006 with a music video to match. In 2008 the track for some bizarre reason started to get airplay in the UK, that lead to a remix and a new video....which one do you prefer? I know my favourite :-)

2001: A superb original
I thank you most humbly for still being with me, here at the end of 2001 celebration week. I'll conclude the festivities with a forward gaze at the next film in the series, the slighty overlooked gem "2010: The year we make contact". Don't forget to watch and enjoy a young Helen Mirren :-) I'll let HAL get the final words: "Dave, would you like to play a game of chess?"

2001: A dedicated fan
Here's a nice example of the amount of dedication many fans feel towards this movie. A CG animation by a japanese guy (or girl) that neatly shows the layout of Space Station Discovery. Go, Japan, Go!!!

2001: A fine actor
The main star of 2001: A space odessey is a, at the time of shooting, relatively unknown stage actor by the name of Keir Dullea. Equipped with good looks and an impeccable sense of dramatic timing, he brought the needed coldness and frustration to the screen as Dave Bowman. Of course I also have to mention the eye candy of Gary Lockwood, whom I suspect was cast due to his appealing physique ;-) Anyways, here is a rare chance to catch up with the two actors and listen to their views of topics regarding the movie. Enjoy :-)

Happy Birthday, 2001!
Did you know? Today, April 6 is the anniversary of the cinema premiere of Stanley Kubricks masterpiece "2001:A space odessey"? The movie first captivated audiences on April 6, 1968. It's amazing knowledge as it still seems as relevant and poignant as ever. Here's my way of paying tribute to the work of two late legends, Mr. Stanley Kubrick and Mr. Arthur C. Clarke, OBE. Today is the first day of "2001: A weeklong celebration" that will take place on this blog. To kick the show off, here is the original theatrical trailer for the movie:

Happy April fools!
It's April first and that means my cell phone carrier has launched an online music download service, that basically allows me to download as much music as I'd like for free. How's about that? Now, to figure it out....
And of course, an appropriate video to celebrate:

A Memory I
I remember being a kid on holiday with my parents and my sister in 1986. We were driving to Bibione in Italy, and from there we went on a day trip to Croatia.

I remember the border patrol guards wearing green uniforms and machine guns, asking my dad if he brought any goods that were eligble for customs. And then I remember being in this dripstone cave deep underground.
I remember freezing my legs, even though it was scolding hot on the surface. I remember sitting on a one-way track in a cart with my dad nuzzeling against him because I was scared about us hitting our heads. There was a sign above a tunnel that said "Duck" or something like that in Croatian and possibly German as well. It was crazy beautiful and dark and serene. I was wearing a knitted sweater.

R.I.P. Heath Ledger

Heath Ledger dies at 28, on the afternoon of January 22, 2008 in New York. What a waste. Drugs have once again claimed a soul. May he rest in the peace he didn't find in life.

Anything's for sale
It seems that there's nothing that can't be turned into a profit these days. When the kids see a show on tv, of course they also have to be able to buy their wheat buns with their favorite characters on. I'm not saying it's wrong, I'm just saying.....it is. This story reminds me of the brawl about the McDonalds report card. Any student with straight A or B's gets a free Happy Meal. How any school board can approve of such a thing is way, way beyond me.
