An ESC quickie

With 42 participating countries i can totally forgive myself for not reserving the momentum to give an in-depth analysis of each and every song. So this will just be a run-through of a few nations I couldn't resist on commenting.

"Spain has sent 4 deodorant sticks to Helsinki this year." That's how Adam Hall described the Iberian entry and that about sums it up this year for Spain.

A boring and uninspired song from a spanish version of (insert boyband name of choice here).

Turkey is still riding strong on the whole mediterian pop meets oriental vibes-wave they created with Sertab Erener's victory in 2003.

Nothing wrong with "Shake it up Shekerim" as this years entry is called. But is that LEGO bricks on the singers shirt? WTF??!?

It didn't matter how enthusiastic the fans from the Czech Republic were, their song finished dead last in the semi-finals. 1 single point was all it got. Back to the drawing board, friends.

And it is indeed not a great year for Great Britain. The British Isles+neighbour deliver the two worst entries into the competition this year.

That's England and Ireland, and it's awful. Nuff said.
